RIP Danys Baez’ Phillies Career

Danys Baez was designated for assignment today, meaning his career as a Phillie is  tragically over.  Brad Lidge was activated off the DL to take his spot.  According to Jayson Stark, Baez’ 5.81 ERA as a Phillie is the fourth highest for any Phillie with at least 80 games played.  He stunk. With this devastating news being released about an hour ago, we at Sports with Balls decided the best way to help our grieving fans was post a picture tribute of the great Danys Baez.

Baez actually started 26 games for the Indians in 2002. Somehow, he won 10 games.

Any guess on how much a Baez autograph cost? It doesn't matter, if you pay more than a dime for it, you're an idiot.

Baez didn't do much fist pumping in 2006 as a Brave or a Dodger against the Phillies. His ERA was over 23 against the Phillies. LOLOLOLOLOL

Worthless baseball card

In 2009, a year after his Tommy John surgery, Baez posted his best ERA since his All-Star year in 2002. He followed this solid year up with an ERA of 5.48.

The second Baez signed that two-year deal (Really Ruben?), there was a collective groan from Phillies fans. Not one to disappoint fans, Baez had an exactly one good moment as a Phillie. Baez pitched 5 innings against the Reds in that marathon 19 inning game won by the Phillies in May. What did he do for an encore? His ERA in the twelve innings since that outing was twelve.

Well, that is it for Danys. Hopefully for him, some idiotic team picks him up for another go around.  In the end, Baez will always be remembered for being terrible and his 5 inning relief appearance against the Reds.  If the Phillies win the World Series, he’ll also become the next Adam Eaton. (the one guy who gets booed at the ring ceremony)  In closing, one final goodbye to Danys….

Bye Danys!
